Art Caltrider Hosts Charity Fundraiser for Boys Hope Girls Hope.
Bodie’s Art Caltrider is hosting a silent auction for the Boys Hope Girls Hope charity at Cafe Troia on Friday May 3rd. The BHGH identifies middle school age kids with academic promise and takes them out of impoverished neighborhoods and provides them with the opportunity to change their lives and their community. The event is being held as an initiative of the Elrod Fellowship Committee in Baltimore, which supports non-profits in the Baltimore area that are focused on fighting poverty.
The boys and girls live in the BHGH facility and are taught basic life skills to prepare them for the future. BHGH started 11 years ago and has an extremely high success rate. After the kids enter the program they graduate high school, are accepted into college, stay in college, and last year their first group of college seniors graduated from college.
“All non-profits struggle with money and many struggle with their mission, but not BHGH. These kids graduate high school and college and are assets for our community,” said Caltrider. “Often young people with these backgrounds end up in prison or worse. These kids have and will make a difference.”
Amazingly, this is all done with private funding. There is no public funding and your help would be much appreciated.
